pastry 150x150 Summertime Sweets!!!Rolling into summer the Blacksmith has just recruited a cutting edge pastry chef, Michele Morris. Working along side executive chef Gavin McMichael on new dessert menu items like The Summer Citrus Tostada, layered with phyllo, white chocolate and margarita gelee!!  The Flourless Diablo Cake with gold flake and candied chilies!! Dessert samplers, and all kinds of nic-nacs, the Blacksmith Restaurant will be the sweetest ending this summer in Central Oregon.

mirror mirror Mirror Mirror on the... Tap!Yes, it’s true! We’re overjoyed to announce Deschutes Brewery’s Mirror Mirror barley wine is now being served on draught. This oak-barrel aged beauty has a lot going on including a light hop aroma with slight citrus notes, some delicious vanilla and oak flavors swirling through the rich malty sweetness with fig, toffee, and caramel highlights, and a hearty viscous mouthfeel that will give your palate plenty to think over through the lingering finish. Though the brewery has recommended aging this one until at least April of 2010, we couldn’t wait that long to give it a try. However, we are planning to cellar a couple of kegs until a later date so we can enjoy it again when those flavor notes come to their ultimate crescendo! Come enjoy it while it lasts.

ABV: 11%   IBU: 30

morimoto black obi soba lab 145x150 Soba Ale ArrivesRogue Brewing produced several beers in coordination with Iron Chef  Masaharu Morimoto utilizing soba (also known as buckwheat) as one of the base malts. The Morimoto Black Obi Soba Ale is the darkest offering in this series and is now available in 22 ounce bottles here at The Blacksmith. Aromas of roasted malt lead you into a nutty, toffee flavor with notes of chocolate and espresso. The soba contributes a lighter body and crisp finish. Enjoy this one with our delicious ribs or a hearty steak and you’ll be pleased with the combination.

5% ABV, 30 IBU
