If you’re a fan of Russian River Brewing, then here’s a special treat! We’ve got Supplication on draft for a limited time. An incredibly unique brew, Supplication has been aged in French Oak Pinot Noir barrels, fermented with wild yeast, and includes sour cherries. This gives the beer an amazing depth of flavor. We’ll be pouring 10 ounces at a time into a snifter for your sipping pleasure, or 3 oz tastes for those who don’t want to commit but have to have the experience.

This Saturday is Repeal Day, the day that prohibition ended, and perhaps it should be America’s favorite holiday. Can you imagine a world where you couldn’t have a gorgeous glass of wine with a nice meal or envision a sports bar without beer? December 5 is the day to celebrate. And at the Blacksmith we are having a special celebration with a pre-prohibition cocktail list with such delights as the whiskey daisy, the saratoga brace up, and santa cruz sour. Anyhow, you have a week to make plans for this special day where you don’t have to have an excuse to drink – to drink is the reason for the holiday.

We’ve got 2 fantastic additions to our draft line-up this week. Here’s a look at these new brews:
ELYSIAN’S “THE WISE” ESB
This golden copper colored beauty carries a depth to it’s malt character that few other ESB’s can boast. Toasty, caramely flavors intertwine with a full hop character that lends some slight citrus notes with a solid bitterness. The hops are the supporting cast in this beer however, as the malt shines through clear and true. One pint may not be enough to satisfy your palate as you ponder each sip. This is one ESB not to be missed.
5.9% ABV, 39 IBU
HAIR OF THE DOG’S BLUE DOT IPA
A double IPA from one of Portland’s finest craft brewers, Blue Dot is a 100 IBU big boy featuring tons of hoppy goodness. Citrus, pine, and grass notes follow the slightly sweet caramel malt flavors. Grapefruit? Pineapple? Peach? Better try one more just to be sure!

The newest addition to our line-up of bottled beers is this amazing smoked beer from Brauerei Heller-Trum (better known as Aecht Schlenkerla). Made in Bamberg, Schlenkerla is one of the last German breweries to do its own malting. This Ur-bock is made entirely from their beech wood smoked malt, which is obvious immediately after your initial sniff. Heavy smoke aroma dominates, instantly bringing to mind images of smoked meats and mouthwatering BBQ. However, the first sips are not overpowering with this character at all. In fact, the lovely malt shines through bringing rich caramel tones, highlighted nicely with the smokey finish that lingers on the back of the palate. This beer just begs to be paired with BBQ ribs, smokey meats and cheeses, or a gorgeous steak fresh off the grill. I highly encourage you to give it a try next time you’re in. It’s more than just another good beer. It’s an experience you won’t forget.
